Re Ebola: The ignorant posts on iHub and the entire net; the absurd things some elected officials say; a lot of downright ridiculous media coverage; the hundreds of hate-filled emails Emory University Hospital has received for letting Ebola into the country. Just incredible.

While the outbreak hysteria might have similarities between the two, but impact on the companies will be quite different IMO. HGSI's anthrax for DOD was one isolated event, thus impact was strictly commercial. TKMR basically developed new LNP formulation for siRNA delivery based on DOD contract, it will impact most if not all future drug candidates in its pipeline since they will utilize similar if not same LNP formulation. While many don't like FDA's clinical hold on TKMR-Ebola, I for one on the other hand think it will be good in the long run. Someone completely independent from the company will review both dosing and give guidance on whether there is a need of blanket prophylaxis for multiple dosing regimen because TKMR is trying to do something other siRNAs haven't tried yet, ie without any prophylaxis. Continued support from DOD and additional support from FDA due to current Ebola outbreak can only be good for TKMR in the long run.
