This reading matches the record low for this series, hit only twice before in 32 years of data, first in first quarter 2009 and then again in third quarter 2011. The year-on-year rate of plus 1.8 percent is the lowest reading since second quarter 2012. Looking at components, growth in wages & salaries was a very soft 0.3 percent with the year-on-year rate at plus 1.6 percent, no better than many other year-on-year readings on inflation.
