Couldn't agree more. Once it's been edited it's no longer an email from the CEO is it? It's all a joke anyway and nothing more than Eric feeling sorry for himself that get got caught with his hand in the cookie jar. How about a bog on your comment Eric?
My post explained that the message was slightly ‘redacted’; not edited.....big difference! I also explained WHY a slight redaction was necessary (the redacted parts are blacked out and are obvious.) Using excerpts or editing is considerably more invasive and does not provide the essence of context.
Redaction (def) - selecting from or adapting (as by obscuring or removing sensitive information) a document prior to publication or release.
Excerpt (def) - A passage or segment taken from a longer work, such as a literary or musical composition, a document, or a film.
Edit (def) - prepare (written material) for publication by correcting, condensing, or otherwise modifying it.
What say we call it an ‘excerpt’ instead of a redaction and/or edit?
I recently recall ‘excerpts’ as being acceptable even though there is no way for the reader to know what information was left behind. IMO this looks like a goose/gander situation.
