If true, then I might consider Haswell 2 MBPs. Apple announced new models today. There was a price cut on the 13 inch model and the 15 inch model now is only available with 16 GB (they bumped the processor and give you an additional 8 GB).
Intel really doesn't have any competition in this space so I guess there really isn't a lot of downside in the PC market - where else are you going to go? AMD?
