Tryoty, you missed my point, and I probably did not explain it well enough. I don't disagree with your premise that one is equal to the other. A real value, however, is not the same as a perceived value. Most people will state a dollar amount of how much a stock increased rather than a percent amount. In reality, we need both. When I tell my friends that the stock I am in (ERHE) has gone up $ .60 cents since January, they don't think much of it. If I was involved in a $50 stock and told them it went up $10, they would take more notice.
