I am in complete agreement. And, when all the calculators fail,
I'll still be able to do the math. Not so sure the math statement applies to any of today's I-can't-figure-out-the-change-manually crowd.

When we were taught cursive (back in the 50s starting in second grade), we were required to use fountain pens. They forced you to slow down and be meticulous. We were allowed to use ball point pens when we were in 5th or 6th grade (memory is failing). It was considered a rite of passage. Just one more step to adulthood.
