I've looked closely at these funds but I have not called up any of the fund managers which is something I should do.

Institutions are more private while funds are more open since they are essentially marketing themselves. I won't go through all of them but I will go through two for people who don't regularly DD fund strategies.

BlackRock DC Gold & General Pensions owns 4.03% of BAA. They tell pensioners that it is high risk but they also say they focus on long-term capital growth. Many high risk funds flip but this isn't one of them.

Fund Objective
Funds invest in the equities of gold mining and precious metal related companies. This is a specialist fund which aims to achieve long-term capital growth and performance tends to be volatile. Investment in the fund involves a higher than usual degree of risk.

AMP Platinum International owns 3.26% of BAA. Like BlackRock they focus on long term capital growth by finding undervalued securities.

Fund Objective
The fund aims to provide capital growth over the long term through searching out undervalued listed (and unlisted) investments around the the world.

Fund Strategy
To invest primarily in securities listed on equity markets around the world. The portfolio will ideally consist of around 100 to 200 securities that Platinum believes to be undervalued by the market. Cash may be held when undervalued securities cannot be found. The investment option may short sell securities that it considers to be overvalued. The portfolio will typically have 50% or more net equity exposure.
