That sounds like a good time and chance to relax.

Our climate is the best of all worlds, cold in the winter and hot in the summer. Illinois is a big state, if you live in southern Illinois, it has more of a southern feel. In the northern part of the state where Chicago is, it's considerably cooler. I'm right in the middle, directly across from Hannibal, Mo.

My summer garden will be productive until it starts to frost, usually around late Sep, early October. The tomatoes won't ripen as fast when it cools down in Sep, but they'll bloom and try like crazy. That's when we make pickled green tomatoes and fried green tomatoes.
