We can definitely believe plants are all dead. But if you read up on growing marijuana, one of the benefits of Mendocino County is that it doesn't rain there most of the year. Rain destroys MJ plants, it's why real growers harvest in October before the seasonal rains.

If you look at the pictures of the vast 500 sq. foot Emerald Med Farms empire, you'll see a hose. Since it's in the shade there probably isn't an evaporation issue.

What would really make sense is something along the lines of

1) 27 year expert pot grower asks where his paycheck is
2) QEDN lets him know that they pay in shares of QEDN
3) 27 year export pot grower says FU and walks off
4) the plants all die

That might be a valid reason if they were field crops that had no irrigation.
