I hadn't thought to look into KCA yet. They do look like the experts. I saw "cyanide" in your post and did some digging. Sure enough Banro makes use of cyanide in a pretty large way. I had no idea, I thought it was the gravity process they used that was causing all the fine particle problems. The link is Namoya pictures from Q4 2013 and the top left mentions cyanide. There are a ton of Google links regarding Banro and cyanide irrigation.

The first chapter of Guidebook for Evaluating Mining Project EIAs actually covers dealing with fine gold particles in open pit mines. This is from page 6 and Banro has everything it needs. "The cyanide solution dissolves the desired metals and the ‘pregnant’ solution containing the metal is collected from the bottom of the pile using a system of pipes."

Banro's problem appears to be they have encountered far more fine particle ore than MDM Engineering anticipated when they first designed the mine. It is interesting that they weren't called back since they would know the setup far better than anyone else. I'm not sure what to make of that. I'm almost wondering if MDM wasn't called because a lawsuit is about to be filed against them.
