I'm far more optimistic. I believe he was a major force in merging BHP with Billiton. BHP was a mining company silver, lead, copper and steel. Thys was part of the Business Development & Corporate Finance team. That team would have played a big roll in merging BHP with Billiton which is now a powerhouse.

He must've done a good job because from there he went to head the Mining & Metals division for Standard Bank in 2001 to December 2009. He did well there two and in January 2010 he became Managing Direction of Mining and Investment Banking for CIBC.

CIBC is a major Banro lender. Now he has gone from CIBC to a director at Banro after receiving 99.65% approval votes (the most of anyone).

I have a feeling he could be Banro's next president.
