This page, if you read the fine print, does not go in with the loan application. The loan application is approved or denied with the decision maker unaware of race. Further, the race/gender page is voluntary, and wont be used to approve or deny your loan.

Later, statistics are kept on gender and race to ensure equal housing opportunity compliance.

This helps prevent discrimination in housing because some areas tend to be predominately a single race. The statistics track "racial profiling" where loans tend to be approved/denied higher or lower depending on the area of town.

In summary, Equal Housing prevents loans from being approved or denied based on race, color, national origin. It is prohibited to discriminate and vigoursly enforced.
