During the Summit, Mr Dwight Rosslee of Selectra and Mr Leonard Rootman of Harmony Gold Mining Company Limited (Harmony) presented a joint case study on the Harmony Bio-energy project. Mr Rootman made use of the opportunity to make the formal announcement of Harmony’s implementation of the Bioenergy project.
The presentation, entitled ‘Cultivating Energy crops as part of mines restoration initiatives,’ dealt with the prospects for growing energy crops on mine impacted land for biogas or thermal energy applications,
