having shares in a margin acct and thinking you can lock them up via a gtc order is nonsense myth .. even though the stock itself cannot be purchased with margin bp , just the fact that its in your acct that has margin rights opens the doors for the shares to be leant out as your broker is required to do so upon any requests .. CASH acct only if you care about your $ esp in small stocks which are often targets
