murrayhill, it would depend on the limitations placed on the number of downloads. If it is unlimited, a $10-$15/month fee, even for time based downloads would not be objectionable. If it is $15, with only 10 "transportable" downloads, then they have a problem. As an example, I use Emusic, and download tons of albums. I never keep them on my player or hard drive for more than a couple weeks. Then I rotate to more music, and the mix is always fresh. With this subscription model, my music is pennies a song, I always have the entire catalog available, and I don't need to store massive gigabytes of files forever. Plus, as new music becomes available, I don't need to spend any more to get them than I have already budgeted.

It becomes a convenience, instead of the burden that so many GB's of files becomes.
