In my mind the cost of the option is zero if the 85% purchase is effected during the three year option period, or $3,000,000 if they say "thanks, but no thanks"...

Am I missing something?

Granted, the rest of the terms are unknown at this point and I'm hoping Medinah doesn't hide like they have in the past.

And, since it wouldn't be me without a dose of skepticism, I'll offer this- Billionaire families are generally ruthless. Even if a generation or two removed from the real wealth-builders they generally have top notch legal/financial counsel. If the partner elects to bail, I'd bet my life they'll fight not to pay the $3MM. And, if history is any indicator, they may very well prevail, or at least get a negotiated settlement. But I'm actually optimistic it won't come to that. We'll see...
