fuagf -- at least in terms of what's included in that (first) video, they weren't near that close, perhaps around/a bit under a mile away at that slow-mo bit, but generally clearly more than a mile away -- in person, especially out on plains like that and, even up to well over a mile away from the funnel(s), caught within the broader surface inflow jets spiraling in toward the funnel(s), as those guys were, it is very easy/tempting to think/feel that you're (a lot) closer to a sizeable tornado than you actually are
