The problem is 'short interest' and 'short volume' are not the same thing. The daily 'short volume' figures from FINRA have little to do with actual 'short transactions'. The only meaningful 'short interest' numbers are reported bi-monthly. These sites use free FINRA material to sell subsciptions to unwitting investors.

i do not know where the site gets its data from.. I just know that it is consistent with other sites that report short interest ratios (but with less granularity).


this is what the site itself claims:

"Disclaimer: Volume and short volume of a stock in the chart are limited to the aggregate volume traded on the NASDAQ, NYSE and OTC that has been reported to FINRA Trade Reporting Facility. We make no guarantee on the accuracy of the data. "
