I think Merom will be at the right time for the release. I expect there will be July/Sept/November rollouts of NGA. Just as you are seeing not many Core Duo systems (like at Dell), it will take time to get new NGA systems rolling. When they thought about it, they're not so interested in the home buyer for Christmas as the new January IT budgets. It costs a lot to upgrade so best to have new NGA systems pre-installed.
It's the right $$ thing to do. Any slippage on Intel's part and heads will roll.
So far delays in a consumer (Home Edition) version of 64b Windows have lived up to my assumption that MS won't release it until Intel is one hundred percent ready.
ROFL. I presume you are joking. Anyone who thinks delays in a new OS have to explained in terms of hardware is a newbie or an idiot.
