I agree with you about upgrading an existing computer most lay person's have no stomach for that, its different if you are building a new machine from scratch or buing a new box. I still like to think intel will get at least a slight boost from conroe and woodcrest thier preformance benefits are so compeling particularly to the tech savy that they will sell themselves even without vista.

I would not be surprised to find out that Intel has the Chinese and Indian market pegged and 250 million albeit low end units, equivalent to the entire demand for 2005.

I think the vast majority of individuals buying computers don't even know there is more than one kind of Windows let alone a new version coming along. Corporate buyers will likely avoid Vista for a while anyways.
I am going to buy a Conroe system later this year for the improved performance and don't give a rat's *** if Vista is delayed to 2017.
