Why would Ed want to beta test an app on an jailbroke iphone as oppsed to a full pedigreed device? It would be tainted results. The beta test needs to be soup to nuts on the proper target to be fully valid....
You don't need to jailbreak a phone to manually install the app. It is just a different procedure of installing the app than if you went to the App Store.
