First Shanghai Investments Ltd. (the "Group"), formerly known as Public International Investments Limited, was established in 1964, and adopted its present name in 1993 to better reflect its business concerns. With shares listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange, the Group is principally engaged in financial services (covering corporate finance, stockbroking, fund management, financial information services and e-finance), as well as direct investments in Chinese Mainland in such economically vibrant regions as Shanghai, the Yangtze River Delta Area, and Shenzhen. This direct investment business is complemented by its position as shareholder of China Assets (Holdings) Limited, a listed investment holdings company in Hong Kong, and RBI Holdings Limited, a listed company that manufactures and sells toy products.
The objective of the Group's China investment strategy is to effectively utilize its position through its controlling interest in companies while seeking opportunities for further market expansion. At present, the Group's direct investments in China include manufacturing and marketing of children's products, container transportation and freight forwarding, vehicle instruments, information technology and e-commerce.
