An just what does this mean?

Usually these types of deals work good for the company and the CEO but the shareholders get the short end of the stick.

What types of deals would you be talking about? Dividends?.... No, couldn't be that bcause they're free. Mergers? .... Wrong again. Some of the most successful companies in the world have undergone acquisitions and mergers. Increasing revenue and sales? ... Now that's just silly. Okay I'll quit guessing and let you explain just what you're really talking about. We're listening...!
