I agree. I am not buying them as an investment only in case the SHTF!! I see bartering as a way to procure essentials in the future. Of course, slowly but surely as finances allow, we're trying to accumulate essentials.

EDIT... BTW, hold any precious metals you have in a safe place close to you. Do not keep it in a bank safe deposit box or any similar place as the government, as I understand, can confiscate precious metals!
