I think you mean "screwup". Although, admittedly, "srewup" is another name...

Umm, you think they didn't have problems in the early days? Based on what, might I ask? They are adding a lot of features in this new release. Based on how hard they are recruiting at my university, they are also expanding really quickly. If you want to know exactly how dangerous such a combination is, I suggest any good text in software engineering. For a lighter read, you might try The Mythical Man-Month by Brookes.

Your basic assumption is that Google's management doesn't have a clue as to what their problem set is. From the insight that I have into their structure, you are wrong. Now the insight comes from what the Google people have shared with our CS department. And they have shared a lot, my Clustered Systems class went pretty deep into how Google clusters their computers and how they manage them. At least some of the information is not public. Or so we were warned.
