Hi, 8,000 acre feet is equivalent to 2.6 billion gallons. We take our drinking water for granted in this country and there is cost in producing a clean drinking. My initial concern was water requirement for this project and it took a while to find the volume of water required to run this facility. Also, I don't know how much of water is recycled because it takes energy to create energy and I can't see this process recovering good amount of water without using some sort of energy to recover. I am no means scientist but majority of water is being absorbed into dry air including generating a draft to spin the turbines for electricity.
