Both companies (TMM and Dimension) have questionable histories. The only reasons they fight over the patents is a) they do not know (or did not know) how worthless they are, b) they hope to keep up appearences, or c) their fight is intended only as a distraction. The more time everyone spends debating the lawsuit, the less time they spend questioning the technology itself.
History is also repeating. This is the third time the server farm has been created. Iterated used a SGI machine with the VDK 2.0, the previous TMM announced that they had used a multi-CPU machine or a local area network of PCs, and now the current TMM is using multiple computers too.
