#8046 RE: detearing #8045

I'm still watching GK and the pinch that is developing. Personally, I would like to own that before X and seeing I have nothing but time in the dividend portfolios, the goal would be own it, get div, hold until PPS regroups to pre div price per share and then consider selling. That way a gain has been accomplished.

Otherwise - if I get the div and then sell it's just getting my own money back in a different form and then having the pleasure of paying taxes on it.

Which doesn't make sense.

Typically the PPS of the special dividend paying stock will be adjusted down to account for the dividend.

If one didn't plan on having their money tied up and wanted a trade. The trade would come after the div and the settling down of the stock, on a buy with rebound potential.

6000 dollars under normal circumstance takes awhile to accumulate on a normal div stock. For example: I own DLR that pays .83 a quarter. PPS is close to GK. PPS is currently 53.54 (GK is currently 52.80)

On comparison

DLR, one of the 52 dividend stocks I own, pays me $830 a q or $3320 a year. It takes almost 8 quarters of DLR to make up what GK will pay all at once.

It's a nice Div if the stock doesn't then tank for the longterm.
