I disagree - securing a patent doesn't mean you have a go forward business. The lack of a patent doesn't mean there isn't a go forward sustainable and profitable business. Remember, a patent is only one barrier to entry into a market - there are many others such as cost of entry into a market, time to market etc etc.

My opinion as always.
