This segment is a tiny fraction of the cell phone market right now but if it takes off then we might see Intel's shipments of Xscale soar into the many 10's of millions per quarter for just that one application segment. And don't let the ASP fool you, these are small devices made in fully paid
out 180 nm fabs so the margins are probably incredible.


Some of the newest designs are using a hybred Logic/Flash/Analog process at 130nm. But you are correct that many of them are using Intel's standard logic process and with the small die size and mature process the yields are probably quite high in terms of % and the costs must be very low. If these markets take off like Intel hopes then we will see a use for all that staggering capacity Intel has put in place.
