Now i'm neither a scientist or biochemist but wouldn't the introduction of metallic ions further strengthen certain spider silks?

Metric tons of ms have already happened. When Kim will choose to tell us is the question. When the time is right we will know. It will be very soon....
No doubt, but take an advanced class in chemistry and nanotechnology and you'd conclude that there's nothing that cannot be done. It is all a matter of your perspective IMO and those who are buying into this company story line are those on one side of that perspective.
What I do know is that those investing here are believing the company's story line even more than those professionals that are within the business and aware of all of the efforts of all of the players in the business.
I'm not going to waste more money on this research yet. I know there are some very expensive industry sponsored association publications on this and related matters. I'm told the Kraig Biocraft efforts are mentioned but certainly not the leading efforts discussed. I don't know and further, at this stage, I don't care.
I have enough professional experience with start up displacement technology based businesses, in many different fields, to know that what the company hopes and says is not likely what will happen, not even likely to be close on their hopes/dreams. Many posters here obviously realize that as well (but oddly, only about the competition). Maybe everybody here is smarter than all of those in the business, or maybe it is too much "hopium" distorting what should be a more pragmatic process. Not many research companies will tell you they are facing uphill battles in their efforts to displace existing technologies with a long term solution, yet almost all of them are. I've been in too many meetings where the "wow" of what we've done displaced the "truth" about what we still had to accomplish.
Bio-tech.. yeah, feed the cows using some additives with the proteins from butchered cows... genetically alter the food line.. rush forward with all the corrections and improvements on nature.. what can we lose? http://www.organicconsumers.org/ge/disaster090105.cfm
