Eight76 is quickly becoming the hottest calling card in the Caribbean!
The official "brand name" of All Arc Enterprises was founded in 2002 as an outlet for the performing, production, and writing talents at All Arc Productions. Kenroy "YahBreeze" Archibald wanted a name that reflected the content of the music without limiting the brand to one form of reggae. Says Breeze, "We want everybody to know where the music is coming from spiritually, historically, and actually. Just like when you see the 876 area code you know the call is coming from Jamaica. Whether we are doing dancehall, soul, ska, or traditional reggae, our roots, our foundation is always Jamaica."
ABOUT EIGHT76 RECORDS
Born and raised in Manchester Jamaica, YahBreeze started out as a recording artist and has written and performed a list of hits like "Red Eye," "Jezebel," "No Night," and "Rasta-For-I" for a variety of producers in Jamaica. He recorded the bulk of those records for the legendary Tuff Gong label in Kingston where he met his wife and partner, Myshjua Archibald who was Tuff Gong's A & R Manager. Realizing that they shared a common love and vision for the music of Jamaica, the two founded All Arc Enterprises in 1996. "Our mission is to develop talent and create projects rooted in a mutual respect and love for the music of our childhood reggae, soul, and hip-hop," says Myshjua. "There is a wealth of talent in Jamaica that deserves to be nourished and brought to the international forefront of POP culture."
2004 was a phenomenal debut year for Eight76 Records. Their first three albums were well received by both critics and fans. The label achieved its first Top 20 hit on New York's Reggae Singles Chart (Pam Hall's Brokenhearted Melody which peaked at #2) and first Top 10 CD on South Florida's Reggae Albums Chart (the various artists compilation RETRORESPECK). The success of the Skasmatic rhythm helped to launch the career of FYAH BLAZE, a hot young deejay signed to the label. Truths & Rights, the title track from his forthcoming debut album, entered the South Florida Reggae Top Twenty just as Eight76 Records was ringing in 2005 at its first annual holiday party, The Sorrel Ball.
The keyword for 2005 is EXPANSION as the hot young newcomers seek to build on their early success. The first two quarters of the New Year will bring debut albums from in-house rising stars, Fyah Blaze and Evette, and popular Kings of Kings artist, Chrisinti. 2006's release schedule also includes compilations featuring new music from Turbulence, Professor Nuts, Dahweh Congo, Prezident Brown, and more. From dancehall to lover's rock we offer something for every kind of reggae lover. Eight76 is definitely on the RISE!
