The rumor is consistent with Intel's mobile wireless revenue graph, with a big drop as the transition happens, and a rapid gain afterwards.

Intel might return to similar mobile revenues as Q4 if they ramp up as they claim. That also suggests majority of their mobile revenues are in the wireless division, not SoC.

So the bigger reason for them getting LTE chips might be to keep mobile wireless marketshare than to get their own SoC competitive, until their SoC division gets big enough.
