This new Volkswagon CEO is here to work with the Tennessean politicians and get this issue resolved, many of us here are expecting an announcement as early as next week, or maybe within 30 days on the new assembly plant.

Now Chattanooga has to deal with this Neo-Nazi group next week, between them and Grover Norquist's billboards this place is becoming a zoo. All of this because a company want a work council for its employees, but is trying to obey US law that requires an American Union to be on the same side of the table to make sure that Americas are represented properly.

It is the law the was required by these Tennessee politicians, but then these Republicans need to not go against Grover Norquist or any other extreme right wing group.

Chattanooga just wants the new plant, and the additional 2000 workers, this area has been doing well in the economy, and everyone around here wants to keep it going. You would think that these politicians, especially Republicans would want this new assembly plant. Instead they keep threatening Volkswagon officials with all kinds of things, like the taking away of the tax breaks that Volkswagon gets for building so much around here. They have taken an old army munitions plant, cleaned it up, and made it into a destination. The new parks, the soccer fields, the bicycle and walking paths, the new solar plant. All of this has attracted other companies to locate at Enterprise South. In five years the place has been completely transformed. It cost the state and extra exit ramp from Interstate 75, and the withholding of new taxes while the company build everything. In the meantime we have 1000s of new jobs, that's what I call working with a company the right way, one that benfits everyone.

The employees make decent wages up to $ 20.00 an hour plus benefits, everyone over there is paying $ 12.00 to $ 15.00, but this is a right to work state and they want to keep wages under $ 10.00 an hour. Volkswagon requires educated workers, and they even pay for that also at the University of Tennessee in Chattanooga.
