NJM, my friend lives in Guangzhou and he just moved there this past year from Southern California. Even looking at a map it appears to be only 40 miles from Guangzhou to MF (as a crow flies) however getting there is a different story. He said most people don't own cars so it means taking a train, plus a bus ride and possibly a taxi to get to the MF from where he lives. He said he would do it if he weren't so busy but he will he help me find someone. He still might do it but in all honesty its not too promising.
However I just met a Chinese banker/client yesterday and he indicated he was from that region. I didn't discuss the MF but I sent him an email today and told him about our situation. I'm still waiting for his response.
