Firm Partner Asa Hutchinson III served as an Associate Solicitor in the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office in Washington, D.C. As an Associate Solicitor, Asa engaged in an extensive intellectual property litigation practice in the federal courts. He briefed or argued over a dozen patent or trademark appeals in U.S. District Court and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit. He also prosecuted several disciplinary cases against members of the patent bar for ethical and/or criminal violations.
Now in private practice, Asa has successfully prosecuted a number of trademark cases for both plaintiffs and defendants, including serving as local counsel for a national client against companies who misused the client's marks on the Internet, and has been involved in scores of trademark proceedings before the Office.
