Gosh their hardware figures sure do stink!

I'd guess they'll go with whoever they sell their foundry business to, probably GlobalFoundries. They'll have contracts to support their top lines for ages to come but they should be able to get away with tailing off development of the top end and using emulation at the bottom end till it all gets emulated in say 20 years time. I see Fujitsu said in the past it was not interested in taking up a z/Architecture licence so I don't know who they could offload the whole business to, Lenovo doesn't quite look right ;-)

The Power architecture is I think the interesting one as far as a future is concerned. I'm not at all sure why the MIPS and PowerPC architectures are going down in favor compared to ARM, they both cover the whole gamut of sizes whereas ARM is just getting into 64 bit.

Meanwhile Intel said that server sales were good.

What's your opinion on how Sun SPARC is doing?
