Sounds interesting. But if the FP resources effectively doubled, wouldn't you expect somewhat bigger gain of SpecFP?

The K8 can do 2 FLOPs/cycle, a 970 can do 4 FLOPS/s. How
does a 2 GHz 970 compare to a 2 GHz K8 in SPECfp?

There is a lot more to good FP performance than raw FLOPs.
