Highlights
Same-store sales picked up a sharp 1.5 percent in the April 5 week vs the prior week but remain very soft on a year-on-year basis, also at plus 1.5 percent. The 4-week average for the year-on-year rate is only plus 1.3 percent which, next to early February, is the lowest rate of the recovery. Still, sales in the latest week were strong and were given a lift by the approach of Easter. Redbook, whose indications have been comparatively less soft that ICSC-Goldman, will be posted later this morning at 8:55 a.m. ET.
