Berger may be adept in his field and developing drugs, but I doubt he has ever cared about shareholder value. Long term holding may be well worth the wait, but we got there once and were pummeled with the FDA drawdown. Now we wait for some news that will start a secure uptrend. We are not there and now the 6's appear possible and maybe likely. With the overall market skittish, we surely need some valuable news to get this stock going. I still cannot believe we are under 8 and could not hold such. Dog.

"shareholder value" creation is not a direct, easily characterized activity, as
in "I'm going to build a brick wall, and I'm going to need 1800 bricks, and
at the rate of 200 bricks a day, it will take 9 days".

No, it's a secondary effect, the primary activity is a very high level
of scientific competence and ultimately clinical proof of efficacy.
The fact the commercial success depends on scientific and clinical
work means that you cannot specify and implement "success" in
a predictable way.

It's interesting to note that had the corrupt, self-aggrandizing FDA not
hammered the company, Dr.Berger would be a hero today. Same guy,
same application of effort and talent, but a very different situation,
and one beyond Dr.Berger's control. So add the unpredictability of
the Pazdur/FDA roulette to the inherent uncertainties of scientific
research, and you get what you get.

I think Dr.Berger (and a top notch scientific team, put together
and lead by him) did an incredible job, and it's just a bit distasteful
(to me at least) to have anonymous critics pi**ing on him incessantly.

he collects a mil + salary and free options every year.

Probably a lot less than some midlevel executive in a national pizza
chain whose research efforts are limited to how much mozzarella to
put on the daily special.

Which Kool Aide is he giving out? Fruit punch or Grape?
