Keeps, as for whether older people could use the meter, the answer is probably yes because the new meter's real job is to measure glucose in blood. However, the new meter I saw when I was at the last commercial filming was small, even with the built in finger sticker. It was amazingly light as if it were designed for a small hand. They carried out a demonstration of the new product. To set the meter up the CEO pushed a button on the device and the LED on the meter showed U.S. and Canada as one choice, WE (western Europe) & Israel as a second choice and several other choices that I could not make out from where I was standing. A button was pushed on the meter second time and the LED blinked as it appeared to set itself.

The CEO then pricked his finger, the meter counted down from 5, like my wife's Bayer Contour glucose meter does, and then the meter produced a glucose result. About 10 seconds later an i-phone ring tone beeped and a second or two after that a plain old Nokia phone beeped from an area about 100 feet away over where we parked our cars for the filming. One of the DECN employees retrieved the phones and walked them back.

The i-phone displayed a glucose result on a very colorful screen where there was the glucose number and a graph below it. I later reviewed 7-8 other screens that displayed a lot of other diabetes related information. The older Nokia phone displayed a result with some text information. It was very impressive because it had all happened automatically. I was told that DECN had leased five "cloud" frequencies which covered 80% of the world.

There are three points to be made here.

1. it appears that they can make a larger version of the new meter to be used by larger hands but their belief is that the target market should be children because parents and grandparents will spend anything and do anything to help their sick child.

2. they believe that 6-7 years from now all companies in the glucose testing business will employ some sort of this type of technology.

3. for those who read this message board and read that the company is using shareholders' money (itself a misnomer) for "foolish" things, meaning something other than a barrage of news releases, this new product will prove them wrong.
