In post 32899 a few minutes ago I said, clearly I hope:

"The Second is the only real protection for the First. Lose the Second and the First will be gone a couple of minutes later. IMO"

We have not had a battle on American Soil for quite some time.

But people think of battles as war, sort of like a football game. There are around one billion guns in private ownership, and there is a reason for that!!!

Absolutely Correct!

The Anti's (anti-freedom, anti-gunners) on behalf of the left in its many guises has been attacking the Second Amendment almost as long as WE have had it. Our forefathers were learned men, worldly men, the knew the history of the world and knew very well what did not work and that is why they built US a Free Republic; Not a democracy as most of our current elitist government would have US believe.

With over 22-thousands gun laws (infringements) on the books not one crime has been stopped. These laws have only hindered law-abiding citizens. Every law or tax created on firearms and their possession is in direct violation of the Constitution and the press has mostly said nothing about it; hell, the MSM is a whore working for the left in its move to disarm American Citizens, and it has worked damn hard at it!

However, now that America is closer to being disarmed than ever before in history, now Obama is starting to make noise about hindering the press and the First Amendment; now, now they are starting to think and say, WTF?!

"The deliberations of the Constitutional Convention of 1787 were held in strict secrecy. Consequently, anxious citizens gathered outside Independence Hall when the proceedings ended in order to learn what had been produced behind closed doors. The answer was provided immediately. A Mrs. Powel of Philadelphia asked Benjamin Franklin, "Well, Doctor, what have we got, a republic or a monarchy?" With no hesitation whatsoever, Franklin responded, "A republic, if you can keep it.""
