I hope the hospital I'm going to can get an exchange since they just purchased the Si last year. This new model would really benefit general surgery. Contrary to what OB 17 believes, the da Vinci robot makes all colorectal surgery much easier. With this new model you can mobilize different parts of the colon ie splenic flexure without having to re-doc the patient cart. I am a community-based surgeon and not in an academic center like OB 17. We do less volume of specific procedures than academic surgeons sometimes. If robotic surgery is easier to learn than laparoscopic for colorectal than it levels the playing field. Robotic assisted colectomy was so much more easier to learn than laparoscopic colectomy to me. My perspective maybe different.
