CARSON CITY, Nev. (AP) - Regulations governing the growing, processing and selling of medical marijuana in Nevada are a done deal.
The Legislative Commission approved the rules Friday without discussion.
The regulations spell out requirements for testing laboratories, cultivation operations, processing facilities and dispensaries.
Nevada voters approved medical marijuana in 2000 but patients have had no legal way to acquire it other than to grow it. About 6,800 people have medical marijuana cards in Nevada.
A law approved by the 2013 Legislature and signed by Gov. Brian Sandoval set up a taxing and distribution system to make it accessible to patients. It could be late this year or early 2015 before medical pot is available for purchase.
Many local governments are still debating or have postponed decisions on whether to allow dispensaries in their jurisdictions.
