BFRE is going to be in 20 years like Gulf or Sunnoco; a bank that does ethanol on the side.

Or give up on protecting people's money and become a bank that steals it like Wells Fargo?

I read some line of evidence once that the common claim that truth is a complete defense to libel is nothing more than an urban legend but who says truth is of the slightest consequence in court?

I had an older friend when I was in law school who made a formidable reputation as a defense lawyer with unsympathetic, inarticulate, penniless clients - like himself - in a day before there were any public defenders. Without evidence of any kind generally and even without defense testimony he could somehow free his clients.

A bailiff told me how the firewalker did it though appearing to me as the most mild of men.

He would attack the court, the prosecutor and judge.

I have no idea how Gonzales managed to avoid being jailed himself for contempt of court but the bailiff said he would overhear the jury walking to the jury room talking about how badly the defendant was being treated with a lawyer who knew nothing about law after hours of being yelled at by the judge and prosecutor.

Some folks do manage without friends or connections but it is a rare feat. Sure hope BFRE can manage but it does not appear likely at the moment that they will ever get above the level of trash themselves despite seeming to have truth and the weight of evidence on their side.
