Highlander2: check with your broker. At Interactive Brokers(IB), none of my shares can be lent out for shorting UNLESS I am actually using margin myself (that is borrowing margin money from the broker). If I do use margin $, any of my shares is lendable for shorting. IB will not allow me to buy MYEC at this time, unfortunately, so I have to use Fidelity. Hope this helps.
