The LD50 is a classic toxicity value that is the dose that consistently causes death in 50% of the population. It is the first basic definition level of toxicity. It has nothing to do with the misrepresented way in which the post that I'm replying to portrays it.

If you cant find an LD50 value, that is EXCELLENT!

They cant even find an LD10 or less! But the LD50 is the classic value used to measure basic toxicity. You can have an LD10, LD90 or LD100, or others for example. For efficacy example, they gave humanized mice 1000x the LD 50 dose of the flu virus. That is 1000x the dose needed to ensure death in 50% of the population. It also ensures close to or exactly 100% death of the test population without intervention. After giving them a drug candidate, efficacy is measured by how long it takes to die at such high doses of the virus. NNVC's FluCide extended the lifetime far beyond Tamiflu. Using Tamiflu, they all died as would still be expected. With the FluCide, many actually survived......AMAZING EFFICACY!

The quote to which you refer is an out of context extraction where Dr. Seymour is talking about the difficulty of achieving a 50% mortality, LD50, even at very, vey high doses of FluCide.

Sadly, I finally found Waldo in a picture.
