You are a ROOKIE who clearly doesn't understand product placement. 1. The company doesn't sell it to the stores for $1.50 if retail is $1.99(promotional price)
2. To get it on the shelf you need to give the product away so the store owners have some incentive to put your product on the shelf.

With a PR the direction of the company will be clear. If it does drop then that would be a good opportunity for you to pick up shares in a company you clearly care about...or you wouldn't be on here.
