Intel not afraid of Hamas says Israel's acting prime Minister at the conerstone laying ceremony for Intel's new 45nm fab.

Wish the guy would have worked his shovel a little more than his mouth though. I still think building fabs in war zones is risky business if not down right crazy and it sure has me a little concerned, especially with my 1,500+ Intel calls. Just wish I hadn't bought back in Jan when Intel was around 26 something...oh well, still time left on them.

Olmert: Intel not scared of Hamas

Acting Prime Minister Ehud Olmert took part in the cornerstone laying ceremony for Intel's second major plant in the southern town of Kiryat-Gat Tuesday, lauding the company for making the giant investment.

The company continues investing in Israel and sees huge potential in the country, Olmert said, noting that Intel seeks Israeli skills and innovation.

"If you wonder how the world economy perceives Israel then look to Intel," the acting prime minister added. "We have had some great investments in the past but never like this."

Turning his attention to Hamas, Olmert said: "Hamas does not frighten it (Intel), terror does not frighten it, it has faith in the state of Israel, it has faith in the stability of Israel's economy."

Global Intel announced the construction of another factory in addition to the one in Kiryat Gat just a few months ago, after Israel prepared all necessary infrastructure, including a financial grant to the tune of USD 524 million.

Senior Intel executive Bob Baker, who was also on hand for the ceremony, said the company took many years to decide where to build its new plant. Intel is grateful for the Israeli governments support and for the positive local approach, he said.
