Well, not always. About 9 out of 10 are bad news a company wants to explain away or sugar coat. From what I've learned in pinky land is that good news is usually reported via splashy press releases, while bad news gets a CC.

CC scheduled with the release of 10Ks is a red flag that the quarter came up way short on expectations. At the very least, it's a sign there's likely going to be fireworks when the 10K comes out.
